Do you have a story that deserves to be a book?
Maybe it’s already written — sitting in a folder, a drawer, or on a memory stick — waiting for someone to tell you what happens next.
Or perhaps you’re at the beginning, with a lifetime of memories and no idea where to start.
Either way, you’re in the right place.
Who I help
I work with first-time authors, memoir writers, and people with a manuscript they’re not sure how to publish.
Many of the people who come to me aren’t aspiring novelists. They’re people with lived experience, family history, or professional expertise that deserves to reach readers. I help retirees, professionals, and those knowing their ageing relatives have amazing stories that haven’t yet been written.
Stories don’t disappear because people forget them. They disappear because nobody ever asked.
I know this because I’ve lived it. A few years ago, my mother, Winifred, now 99, announced she wanted to write something. What began as a few family skeletons for our ancestry page became a full memoir. Every night she would email me a new chapter from her iPad — people, places, memories she hadn’t thought about in decades. I would shape them into something coherent, then we’d sit together and edit them. Tears were shed for those we’d lost, and often we laughed out loud at the sheer madness of a life well-lived.
Horseshoe Bay was published with a cover photograph taken by my father in 1960 on a Guernsey coastal slipway. She is wearing a local crab pot as a hat and laughing — the woman who had craved a family and a place to belong, having found both. People still tell us they chose this book because its colourful cover made them happy.
That experience and working with other authors taught me so much about the draft writing process. And that’s why I built this memoir starter service. Let’s get those stories out there.
